Summer in New York City is always a good idea! With so many exciting events happening throughout the season, it can be hard to know where to start. As a fun and young travel agent, I’ve put together a list of the best events in NYC this summer that you won't want to miss. From music festivals to film screenings and food markets, there’s something for everyone in the city that never sleeps.  

1. Rooftop Concerts at Pier 17 - Happening all summer long

Location: Pier 17, Seaport District                                                             Kicking off the list, we have the Rooftop Concerts at Pier 17. Enjoy stunning views of the skyline while listening to some of your favorite artists live in concert. With a lineup that includes big names like The Killers, Kings of Leon, and G-Eazy, you won't want to miss out on this one-of-a-kind experience.  

2. Gov Ball - June 9-11

Location: Citi Field, Queens                                                                           Governors Ball is one of the most popular music festivals in NYC, and for good reason. With headliners such as Billie Eilish, A$AP Rocky, and Post Malone, this year's festival promises to be one of the best yet. With three days of non-stop music, food, and fun, you'll want to mark your calendar for this one.  

3. Tribeca Film Festival - June 7- 18 

Location: Various locations in Lower Manhattan                                     The Tribeca Film Festival is a must-attend event for film lovers. With screenings of independent films, documentaries, and shorts, there's something for everyone at this festival. Plus, you never know who you might spot on the red carpet!  

4. Elrow Festival - July 22

Location: Brooklyn Mirage, East Williamsburg                                         If you're looking for a party, the Elrow Festival is the place to be. With a theme of "Psychrowdelic Trip," this immersive experience promises to be a wild ride. Expect confetti, balloons, and lots of dancing.  

5. Electric Zoo - September 1-3

Location: Randall's Island Park                                                   Electronic dance music fans won't want to miss Electric Zoo. With multiple stages featuring world-renowned DJs, this festival is a three-day celebration of all things EDM.  

6. Eat Sushi at Japan Festival - May 20-21

Location: Riverside Park South                                                                     If you love sushi, the Japan Festival is the event for you. Enjoy delicious food, traditional performances, and even a sake tasting. Plus, with a beautiful view of the Hudson River, this event is the perfect way to spend a summer day.  

7. Smorgasburg - Happening all summer long

Location: Various locations in Brooklyn                                                     Smorgasburg is a food lover's paradise. With over 100 vendors offering everything from lobster rolls to ice cream sandwiches, you'll want to come hungry. Plus, with multiple locations throughout the city, you can make a day of it and explore new neighborhoods.  

8. Uptown Night Market Festival - Every second Thursday until October

Location: La Marqueta, East Harlem                                                   The Uptown Night Market Festival is a celebration of the diverse cultures and flavors of East Harlem. With food vendors, live music, and artisanal crafts, this event is a fun and unique way to experience the neighborhood.  

9. Gay Pride Parade - June 25

Location: Various locations throughout Manhattan                             The Gay Pride Parade is a staple of NYC summers. Join the celebration of love and equality as colorful floats, performers, and marchers make their way through the streets of Manhattan.  

10. Summer Stage - Happening all summer long

Location: Various locations in all five boroughs                                     Summer Stage is a series of free outdoor concerts.
